Plymtree Country Fayre & Horse Show

The final countdown has begun, the weather forecast is looking hopeful and now all we need is YOU!  As ever, the Fayre and Horse Show depend on keen volunteers to help set up on the Saturday and Sunday before the Bank Holiday Monday – starting at 10.00 each day.  If we have a good number, we can get the marquees up, the main ring prepared, table and chairs/benches put out and all the other areas marked out and ready in quite a short time.  So please come along and help (if only for a few hours) – wear stout footware!

We haven’t had much response about agricultural vehicles for the Classic Vehicle Show this year, but if you have something suitable please visit the website and bring it along for everyone to enjoy some agricultural history.  The children love to see these machines, and I know there are several “collectors” in the Village….

We will be serving Granny Gothards Local Ice Cream (from Willand) at the show this year; it will be available outside the shop (weather permitting) and on the Fayre Field in 100ml tubs.  We hope that you will enjoy this new ice cream and help support a local industry.

The Horse Show will start early as ever on the Monday – events start at 10.00 – and there will be coffee, tea and bacon sandwiches (thanks to Tina Gibbins) available for hungry equestrians and/or early Fayre attendees.

The Dog Show will be bigger (and, if you can believe it, even better!) than last year – there should be more detail elsewhere in the magazine but do come along and bring your dog to get involved.

Finally, can I remind everyone to think hard about recycling and rubbish at the Fayre and Horse Show – we try hard to recycle the maximum amount but it helps a great deal if you can place anything for disposal into the bins provided.  Please don’t drop wet wipes in any of the fields – this is agricultural land.  The shop will be offering free fills/refills of water bottles; please bring your reusable bottle if at all possible.  Although we use plastic for our drinks in the Bar Tent, this will be recycled by Devon Waste Management and we are still trying to work out how we could institute reusable containers for drinks from the Bar.

See you on Bank Holiday Monday for a great day out!
