Weather Report – June 2021

In Plymtree the weather was a month of two halves. The first half was predominately dry and warm but the second half of the month was much more unsettled. The total rainfall I measured for the month was 67.2mm. The average (1981-2010) at Dunkeswell Airfield is 66.0mm. This means that we received 102% of the Dunkeswell average. The wettest day of the month was the 27th with 37.0mm. Thunder was heard on the 28th. There were 8 rain days (rainfall ≥ 1mm), which compares to an average of 9.2 days for Dunkeswell. The total rainfall for the first 6 months of this year is 458.5mm. The average (1981-2010) at Dunkeswell Airfield is 488.4mm. This means that we have received 94% of the Dunkeswell average for the period January to June this year, the very dry April being offset by the very wet May. The highest temperature I recorded during June was 26.1°C on the 13th. On the 21st the temperature didn’t rise above 13.7°C. The lowest temperature, 5.0°C was recorded on the 4th. The strongest wind during June occurred during the morning of the 27th when a gust of 26.6mph was recorded.

(Please note because of the heavy rainfall on the 27th the axis on the graph below has changed from that normally shown: i.e. 0-40mm rather than 0-25mm)
